ACCENTRO-IW-HOUSING-COST-REPORT 2018 –
HOME OWNERSHIP IS 33 % MORE FAVORABLE THAN RENTING
 
Overall this years ACCENTRO-IW-Housing Cost Report concludes that homeownership is more favorable in every district of Germany than renting out. The main reason for that is the interest rate development. From 2010 to 2017 interest rates dropped heavier than prices increased. This becomes even clearer in metropolises. If you take a closer look at the ratio of owner-occupiers and rent costs, you'll spot that owning your own walls is more favorable than renting them.
